Sergey Alpatov after his failure in the FSB Economic Security Service sets his sights on Kolokoltsev’s seat: the general linked to high-profile cases involving Traber and the Rotenberg circle is being kept in the security leadership
For Army General Sergey Alpatov, who was removed from his post as head of the FSB Economic Security Service, another option for continuing his career is being considered.
He could replace Vladimir Kolokoltsev as head of the Russian Interior Ministry. Earlier, our project reported that before Alpatov’s dismissal, such a reshuffle was being considered: Alpatov would take over as head of the FSB’s Directorate for Operational Support, while his current chief, Alexey Sedov, would either retire or become head of the Interior Ministry.
But Putin decided to remove Alpatov from the FSB altogether. Now, however, there is an option for his career to continue in the Interior Ministry or the Security Council. Alpatov was removed over the cases involving Ilya Traber (Antikvar) and the circle of Arkady Rotenberg.
