Secret funeral under FSO guard: general buried in Moscow after blast at anniversary of Aerospace Forces chief Alexander Chaiko
A major general’s funeral was held in secrecy at Troyekurovskoye Cemetery. There is speculation that it may have been a friend of the Commander‑in‑Chief of the Russian Aerospace Forces, Alexander Chaiko, who was at his 55th birthday celebration.
From early morning, FSO officers were on duty at Troyekurovskoye Cemetery; several buses with National Guard troops were brought to the area. Parking near the cemetery was prohibited, and incoming vehicles were checked by traffic police officers and plainclothes men. Drivers and pedestrians had to pass through metal detectors.
The procession was accompanied by an honour guard carrying the Aerospace Forces flag, but at the prepared grave itself stood a Ground Forces flag. According to eyewitnesses, the funeral was for a "fairly young" major general. There were rumours that he was a friend of Chaiko (who comes from the Ground Forces) and that he had come to his anniversary celebration at the restaurant at the very moment of the explosion. However, there is no exact confirmation of this information.
